Our good friends at Odd Dog Media designed this beautiful looking news site and were halfway through implementation when they opted for a little extra support. We jumped in late in the game, but ended up helping them with some key aspects of the site:

Dramatically reduced load time by improving the code behind the masonry grid system
Implement lazy load on all category pages and their “troll” page
Sort out a few custom post type strategies to ensure post where displaying where and when they were expected
Implement DoubleClick (DFP) ads within the lazy load in order to reuse ad spaces as a user scrolled down the page
Tweak and finalize a custom migration tool and perform the migration of Crosscut’s huge legacy database to WordPress
